Cyborgs, Centaur, and Post-Humans

Shoot a high-resolution self-portrait (head and shoulders) - any pose, any accessories, clothes optional. Use Photoshop to mask and silhouette your portrait - removing it from the background. Alter the photo to reflect your fantasy - a fictional character, cyborg, etc. Watch the movie about masking and silhouetting in the Course Folder: 04_maskinghair.mov
Examples here:
Feel free to combine with other high res images:

Handmade Books
I found this site that has lots of handmade items, including books, journals, comics, etc. It's mostly for buying and selling things, but it has a pretty nice collection with a lot of different ideas for books...my favorite is the cereal book :)

Found this link about a nifty binding technique. You have to scroll down a bit.
I found it on this blog which I look at regularly. There's usually something cool.

Links! Process and Inspiration

Chris showed me www.IllustrationMundo.com, which is a very cool site full of hundreds of illustrator's works and portfolios. A fine place to fish for a muse.
The second blog, School of Ill, is made by a dozen or so regular contributors--all of whom are young illustrators or art students from all around the world. They frequently put up sketches, works-in-process, and final pieces. Many styles and many subjects make for a diverse blog...
